Michael Downie – Baritone

A native of Nova Scotia, baritone Michael Downie completed his musical training at Acadia University, The Banff Center for the Arts, the Royal Conservatory of Music and the University of Toronto. Currently in his thirtieth season with the Canadian Opera Company chorus, Michael has also appeared as soloist with the Seven Rivers Chorus of Canada, Opera in Concert, Toronto Operetta Theatre, Vocalpoint Chamber Choir, Tallis Choir, Pax Christie, the Valley Festival, The John Laing Singers, Mississauga Choral Society, Mississauga Philharmonic, Scarborough Philharmonic and The Peel Choral Society. He has performed as soloist in major Oratorios of Bach, Handel, Beethoven, Vaughan Williams, Mozart and Haydn and is thrilled to join the Mississauga Chamber Singers in their performance of Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass.
