
A native of Toronto, Mary Jane Egan completed her Masters in Voice and Opera at McGill
University’s Schulich School of Music under the tutelage of Professor Stefano Algieri in 2020.
There, she was the recipient of Gaelyne Gabora Memorial Prize, the Martha Schiller Memorial
Award, and the Duncan Campbell Memorial Award.
Her opera roles include Blanche in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmelites (Summer Opera Lyric Theatre), Nora in Vaughn Williams’ Riders to the Sea (Opera McGill), Despina in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte (Summer Opera Lyric Theatre), and Suor Genovieffa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica (UC CCM Opera Bootcamp).
Equally at home with concert repertoire, Mary Jane was selected to perform as the soprano soloist in the McGill Symphony Orchestra’s 2020 performance of Johannes Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem and sang the soprano soloist role in Howard Goodale’s Eternal Light with McGill’s Concert Choir She has also performed as the soprano soloist for Dvorak’s Te Deum and Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de confessore with Montreal’s Cantabile Chorale. In 2023, she will be joining Toronto’s Opera in Concert chorus.
