Are you looking for an excellent choir that rehearses and performs in Mississauga? Are you an enthusiastic singer looking to enhance your vocal skills and knowledge of music? Would you like to share the joy of classical music with a group of like-minded singers?
Then Mississauga Chamber Singers is the choir for you!
Mississauga Chamber Singers’ Artistic Director, Mervin Fick, is dedicated to singers’ development and has inspired the choristers to strive to achieve higher levels of choral excellence. His rehearsal techniques allow choristers to work in a safe, inclusive learning environment. Informative and instructional rehearsals include integrated theory, history, vocal and period performance techniques. Mervin, in partnership with professional section leads, encourages discussion, offering solutions and strategies on vocal and ensemble development and musical interpretation.
We are an auditioned chamber choir, performing a wide variety of choral music, with an emphasis on classical repertoire. We meet Tuesday evenings, 7:15-10:00pm at St. Andrew’s Memorial Presbyterian Church, 24 Stavebank Road North, Mississauga, beginning the first Tuesday after Labour Day, and continuing through to the end of May.
During the unprecedented time of Covid-19, the dynamic and charismatic Artistic Director Mervin Fick is leading MCS Chorus’ first ever ‘Choir School’ which includes Basic, Intermediate and Advanced study groups. Choristers study Rhythms, Intervals, Sight-Singing and Musicality under the direction of three professional instructors. The skills learned will strengthen the full choral ensemble in live performances once the Covid restrictions are eased and lifted.
